This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
dat cosplay!
MAD jealous.
I’ve always wanted to cosplay one of the twins.I wish my sister would join me, we’d rock the whole twin thing. But she’s too
hipsterbusy to cosplay…haha I have the same costume! Isn’t it great?
I was the first to have it custom-made by a cosplay website, and now they sell it to anyone, so cosplaying the Warden is very accessible now! It’s great.
I might don mine again for ACen this year because it requires less discomfort than my Spy costume, buut my hair’s currently dyed right now OOPS…
^^^ LOL Nice try but you don’t own the same costume unless you came to my apartment and stole it from me. Also, you’re not super cool by having something “custom made”, that just means you can’t do it yourself.
um wow months-later hate from a really random place OK den
If you didn’t get the suit from the same place as me (and a few others since me that I have seen), then well, awesome! The more opportunities for cosplay for a great and under-represented show (and for things as nifty as purple tailcoats in general) to exist, the better!
It just looked remarkably similar to the one I have, so I apparently made an honest mistake in thinking that perhaps you were one of the people running around having gotten it from the place that now offers the pattern I requested! If that for some reason offended you, then I apologize.
Personally, I’m of the opinion that it doesn’t matter how you obtain your costumes because you’re all just getting together to celebrate things you love, but to address your accusation— yes. I requested the help of professionals because I would not have been able to successfully sew a tailcoat and top hat myself. They are difficult things to sew, and in this specialization-driven world, not every fan has the time to hone sewing skills to that level in addition to the multitude of other talents they possess.
With time, I hope to do my best to change that by sitting down and dedicating the time to sew future cosplays I have planned. What I do not wish to change, however, is the fact that for this one cosplay, a few years ago, I was committed enough to wanting to represent the character and show well, that I could admit when I needed help from an outside source in order to get the quality level I personally desired.
The suit I got was great, comfortable, durable, and no amount of strangers attempting to shame me on the internet can make me regret my decision to get it. Nor does wearing something I myself am not capable of making make me somehow less of a fan.
If you think I sounded somewhat arrogant for mentioning that the seamstresses now offer warden suits based off the one I ordered— well, I wasn’t trying to hold myself above anyone else, no. But I don’t think it’s out of the question for me to feel a little proud? Warden costumes are genuinely difficult to assemble for those of us who aren’t already able to sew things as complicated as suits. Purple isn’t a common suit color and as such, many are relegated to purchasing relatively inaccurate costumes piece by piece. If I made a small mark on Superjail cosplays by making it a little easier for even one cosplayer to have a costume they can feel great about, then yes, thank you, I damn well am going to be glad and inwardly proud about that.
Great picture btw, but a b a d attitude.
Dude, hating is my favorite thing. In fact, cosplayers buying costumes is my favorite thing to hate on. I’m also really butthurt that you don’t like the name of my blog. =c
